A UNIQUE TERROIR: THE KIMMERIDGIAN

BURGUNDY’S TERROIRS PRODUCE WINES WITH DISTINCTIVE PERSONALITIES AND CHABLIS IS NO EXCEPTION. THE CHABLIS TERROIR LENDS ITS WINES THEIR INTENSE MINERAL EXPRESSION.

The geological heart of the Chablis wine region lies on a bed of marine sediments, algae and shells that formed 155 million years ago, known as Kimmeridgian. This unusual, iodine-rich geology is imparted to the Chardonnay through its roots and gives Chablis wines their unique identity.

Chardonnay ripens in optimal conditions in Chablis, with a semi-continental climate that ensures the perfect balance between richness in sugars and a saline freshness.
